So, I started ralking today (running + walking). I’m going to follow John Bingham’s beginner’s program, which consists of 6 cycles of alternating running and walking. So I went out and ralked for 30 minutes (run: 1 min / walk: 4 min). The plan is to do this cycle for 2 weeks and then increment the run by 1 min. and decrement the walk by 1 min., with the eventual goal of running for 30 minutes straight. You may be asking yourself “Why would Mando do such a thing? That’s just not really his bag, baby.”I asked my self the same thing :).Here’s my list of reasons for getting off my duff:
- I’m fat. And I mean, really fat.
- I’m out of shape. I started playing some softball a couple of weeks ago, and it’s just silly how little stamina I have.
- I live 3 miles from work, but I still drive everyday. That’s just silly.
I’ve got some ideas for keeping myself motivated but I’m still trying to solidify my plans. If anyone would like to come ralking with me, I’m trying to go every night so feel free. * The original title of this post was ‘Running’, but to call what I did running is an affront to runners and running in general.

Get a hold of my wife. She’s just starting to train to run another marathon. If you’re serious about training she can give you some pointers.
